Revere Hotel Boston Common ★★★★

An independent hotel with a rebellious streak

The Revere stands on Stuart Street at the point where the Theater District meets Boston Common and Back Bay, and it makes a point of not belonging to a chain. The name is taken seriously: a steampunk metal sculpture of Paul Revere and his horse holds the lobby, and the revolutionary theme runs through the public spaces with more wit than solemnity. The hotel has been renovated throughout, with rooms in a contemporary register of upholstered headboards, dark wood and grey and white linens, and skyline views on the upper floors.

A balcony in every room

The detail that sets the Revere apart from every other large hotel downtown is the sliding door in each room that opens onto a Juliet balcony. On the higher floors the view runs over the rooftops of Back Bay and the Common, and a coffee on the balcony is the natural way to start the day. Categories run from Superior and Deluxe City View rooms to Premier Skyline View rooms, a Loft Suite and One Bedroom Skyline View suites. The fitness center is open to all guests, and pets are welcome, with the Common a block away for walks.

Rebel's Guild and the Rooftop at Revere

Rebel's Guild is the ground-floor restaurant and bar, serving New England cooking from breakfast through dinner with an all-day bar menu and craft cocktails. Upstairs, the Rooftop at Revere is a lounge with a seasonal outdoor pool and a terrace over the city, a hotspot for Bostonians as much as guests once the weather turns, with food and drinks served poolside. Together they mean a full evening can be spent without leaving the building, before or after a show.

Theater District, the Common and Chinatown on foot

The Wang, Shubert and Emerson Colonial theaters are a few minutes' walk, Boston Common and the Public Garden begin at the end of the street, and the Freedom Trail starts at the Common's Park Street corner, about ten minutes away. Chinatown's restaurants are five minutes to the east, Boylston Street and Newbury Street ten minutes to the west, and Back Bay station, for Amtrak and the Orange Line, is a similar distance. The Boylston Green Line stop is two blocks from the door. Check-in is at 4 pm and check-out at 11 am, and parking is available on site.
