Free planning tools from our editors: neighbourhood finder, budget calculator and itinerary builder.
Tools for planning a stay in Boston
Small, fast tools built by our editors to answer the questions that actually decide a trip: where to base yourself, what it will cost, and what to do with the days. Free, no sign-up, no results held back.
Most travel advice about Boston stops at a list. These do the arithmetic instead. Each tool takes what you tell it — your dates, your budget, your neighbourhood, the number of days you have — and gives you an answer you can act on, with the reasoning shown so you can disagree with it. They work in the browser, nothing is stored, and you never have to give an email to see the result.

Why we build tools rather than longer lists
A guide tells everyone the same thing. A tool tells you the thing that applies to your trip. Somebody arriving for three nights in January with children has almost nothing in common with somebody arriving for a weekend in June on their own, and a single article cannot serve both without becoming useless to each. So we split the difference: the writing gives you the city, the tools give you your version of it.
The rules we hold ourselves to are simple. Every tool shows its working, so you can see which input moved the answer. No result is hidden behind an email — the club is there if you want more from us, not as a toll gate. And where a number is an assumption rather than a fact, we say so on the page and let you change it.
If a tool gets something wrong about Boston, tell us. We would rather fix it than defend it.
